A Whimsical Spring Wedding at the Four Seasons St. Louis
Spring is almost here and I don’t know about you, but I am SO ready for green grass, flowering trees and blue skies! To celebrate the [almost] first day of spring, today’s feature is a wedding I’ve been excited to share for months. Jessica & Nick are the absolute sweetest couple, and we had so much fun designing a reception to fit their personalities and unique vision! Their day has become one of our favorite designs, and I’m so excited to finally share all the beautiful details from this amazing spring wedding, captured by the fabulous ladies of L Photographie.
Jessica & Nick came to us with a vision of bringing nature into the Four Seasons ballroom for their May 4th wedding reception, and if you’ve seen this very modern space you know that is a bit of a tall order! Jessica’s design board included things like orchids, boxwood, romantic floral elements, and the most challenging of all: tabletop trees. While they envisioned many “woodsy” elements, the couple still wanted a somewhat formal affair, which made for a fun design challenge! Lisa worked with the teams at Décorum and Cosmopolitan Events to design a space that was both romantic and a little rustic, incorporating the elements Jess & Nick requested while adding some of her own ideas to enhance their vision!
The couple said their vows at the historic Old Cathedral downtown under the shadow of the Arch. I love how expressive Jess is throughout the ceremony - you can feel her excitement!
Sandra designed Jess’ bouquet to compliment her gown, which was structured and elegant. The cascading bouquet featured peonies, hydrangea, roses and of course the bride’s favorite: orchids!
A boxwood wall with custom signage greeted guests to cocktail hour, setting the whimsical tone for the evening. The back of the wall featured custom place cards by Abigail Christine Designs (who did all of the adorable paper goods and custom artwork for the day). Guests passed through arches of curly willow and orchids before entering the completely transformed ballroom, which Décorum draped in sheer fabric to soften the space and tone down the modern feel of the room.
You know we love a good room reveal, and Jess’ reaction to the ballroom has become one of our favorites! Kristen from the Four Seasons sent us a video of Jess & Nick seeing the ballroom for the first time, and it was so fun to hear Jess exclaim, “It’s like a fairytale in here!”
The ballroom was completely transformed, with six large tabletop trees scattered throughout the space creating an “enchanted forest” feel. The vine-covered pergola Lisa designed to sit over the head table anchored the room and gave a sense of dining al fresco. Candles twinkled on every table, gold elements added a sense of formality and the entire space felt light, airy and whimsical – just like a fairytale!
You can’t have a May 4th wedding without Lightsabers!
Thank you Jess & Nick for entrusting us to bring your wedding vision to life, and for allowing us to be a part of your beautiful day!! And a huge shout-out to the amazing team of vendors who made this gorgeous wedding possible!
