Part Three: Low Centerpieces
Three C’s of Reception Design
Low centerpieces are truly important in reception design because they are at or below eye-level. This means that all aspects of their design are visible to your guests, so some thought and consideration should be given to their design and presence. Low centerpieces, as you will see in this blog, are particularly appealing due to their variety in style and texture. As we have discussed in previous blogs, tall centerpieces are all about the drama, candlelight centerpieces add ambiance, and now we will explore the depth and detail of low centerpieces! Without these cuties, your reception would be less picturesque and interesting.
Low centerpieces are a great addition to a long head table. They add texture, dimension and amazing framing to photos while not drawing attention away from the newlywed couple.

A flowering sweetheart table is one of my favorite reception elements to witness! Whether you prefer a bubbling and overflowing look or a more controlled style, your sweetheart table is the ideal location for a low centerpiece. These floral installations are eye-catching and will enhance your wedding day photos ten-fold!

A low and sophisticated freestanding arrangement is ideal for couples who have long tables at their reception. They add beauty and elegance with their mix of blooms, and they do not interfere with your guests ability to see each other. With the addition of interspersed candles and a few more floral elements, you have the perfect table for lively conversation and instagram-worthy photos.

One of my favorite low centerpiece looks is what I refer to as, “The Compote”. Much like the dessert it is named after, this tablescape is a fabulous sweet little treat. The lovely floral arrangement at the center is surrounded by a trio of beautiful candlesticks which creates a sensual and inviting experience. The arrangement helps to draw the eye inward while the trio invites guests to gaze around the table, hopefully meeting the eyes of the other guests seated with them- let the conversation flow, am I right?!

I could not write a blog about low centerpieces and not include a few of my favorites. Not every low design needs to have a traditional design aesthetic, you can always add in a few modern arrangements using the traditional blossoms throughout your wedding. By thinking outside-the-box, you will bring visual interest to your reception and these low centerpieces will have your guests intrigued. We can guarantee they will be posting them on social media for sure!
